Robert Cox hired as VP of Students
Posted: 6/16/2014 Robert Cox, who is the dean of Student Success and Enrollment Management at Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) in Gresham, Ore., has been selected as the vice president for Students at Centralia College. Cox, 34, will take the reigns of the college’s student services division on July 7.

Cox is a Centralia College graduate, who earned his master’s degree in College Student Services Administration from Oregon State University, and is currently working on his doctorate from the same university.

Cox will replace Lucretia Folks who is retiring.

While a student at Centralia College from 1998 through 2000, Cox was a starting guard on the Trailblazer men’s basketball team. He received the Most Inspirational Player award.

Cox has filled numerous interim roles at MHCC, including athletic director, dean of Health and Physical Education and interim vice president of Student Success and Enrollment Management. He also served as the director of Student Life, all at MHCC. For two years, beginning in 2007, Cox was the Student Involvement coordinator at Washington State University, Vancouver.

He has served in several regional leadership roles with the Association of Campus Activities and currently serves as a member of the executive board of the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges.

"Robert Cox has demonstrated leadership in an important area of college life, and has the ability to understand and connect with students. He will be a great addition to our leadership team and to Centralia College," Dr. Jim Walton, college president, said.
